Clean out your closet

Thanks to the Cinderella Project, underprivileged teens across the Lower Mainland can celebrate their grad night in style.

The Vancouver-based volunteer-run charity provides free formal attire to high-school graduates who could not afford to participate in celebrating this important milestone without assistance.

"Cinderellas" and "Cinderfellas" are referred to the organization by school counsellors, teachers, principals or social services agencies.

This year, Sentinel students are collecting for the program.

The school's dress drive started earlier this week and runs to next Thursday. Sentinel is accepting new or gently used formal and semi-formal clothing, evening bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, and new/unopened cosmetics, hair products, perfumes and colognes. Items will be accepted at the school office, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

Formal clothing should be suitable for teen tastes. Monetary donations are also being accepted.

Make your cheque payable to the Cinderella Project and send your donation to the school, care of Sue Herd, staff sponsor.

For details, contact Herd at 981-1130 or by e-mail, sherd@sd45.bc.ca.
